Vulnerability assessments try to understand and document the impacts of climate change threats and opportunities on existing and planned infrastructure, rating the vulnerability of an infrastructure system from Very Low to Very High.
The vulnerability assessment process has been documented in the MoPE developed Climate Change Vulnerability Assessment and Adaptation Methodology for Infrastructure in Nepal: A guide for infrastructure departments.
As part of PPCR 3 vulnerability assessments have been undertaken on 84 infrastructure systems across Nepal, providing a country-wide snapshot of the types of vulnerability experienced by bridges, roads, towns, irrigation schemes, embankments, settlements, water supply schemes, sanitation systems and culverts.
The Asset Vulnerability Assessment Database provides access to the vulnerability assessment results which can be sorted by asset type, district or vulnerability.
Vulnerability Assessment reports are also available for six sectors (strategic network roads and bridges, local and rural roads, irrigation, urban planning, water supply and sanitation, and water induced disaster prevention) in eight districts (Achham, Banke, Chitwan, Dolkha, Kathmandu, Mustang, Myagdi, and Panchthar).
